Real Birth Project

(Formerly Tranquil Birth)

Birth is more than having a baby…
It’s the remoulding of your body, mind & spirit.

Our mission at Real Birth Project is to prevent and reduce the impact of birth trauma for birthing people and their families and emotionally support the transition from pregnancy to parenthood for greater mental wellbeing in families.

Whether in pregnancy or after your baby is born our work focusses on these key areas:

Voices: Your voice being heard, validated and respected and finding ways to bring the important voice of women and birthing people back into the centre of the birth experience through stories and communities.

Choices: Giving you the information and support you need to make the decisions that are right for you with confidence and without judgement.

Practical Tools: We love tools, something you can actually use to help you through the journey and improve your experience.  From practical Hypnobirthing to therapeutic tools postnatally, we want you to feel equipped.

Meet the Team

I’m Sakina, founder of Real Birth Project, a Hypnobirthing Teacher, facilitator, therapist and a mum of two.

I came to Hypnobirthing after a difficult first birth, wanting to create a different experience for my second.  I’ve learnt that birth isn’t just about having a baby vaginally or abdominally but the quality of the experience impacts us and our families emotionally.  This changed the course of my  life and I’m passionate about making birth better for all.

I co-chair Croydon Hospital Maternity Voices Partnership, am a champion for the Maternal Mental Health Alliance and parent ambassador for Make Birth Better.
